Abdominal Etching
Fine-cannula liposculpture that removes fat along the borders of the abdominal muscles to reveal a softer athletic line or a sharper six-pack, following markings you approve.
Ab etching surgery in NYC with Dr. Leonard Grossman is performed by the surgeon whose practice credits him with developing and naming Lipoetching in 1995. Instead of slimming the whole belly evenly, he etches the grooves between the rectus and oblique muscles so the six-pack you train for finally shows. It is an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia at his Brooklyn surgery center, so you go home the same day; over-the-counter pain relief is usually enough, and many patients are back at work the next day.

The Smarter Liposuction for the flanks, waist and more: local anesthesia, a warm operating room, tiny incisions that need no stitches and no compression garments.
For loose skin or separated muscles that etching can’t address, Dr. Grossman performs a drainless tummy tuck under IV sedation combined with local anesthesia.
Fat removed while sculpting can be purified and transferred to the breasts, buttocks or calves, as in his gallery case pairing feminine etching with a BBL.
Renuvion (J-Plasma), which Dr. Grossman began using in 2015, tightens mild to moderate loose skin through a tiny access point, often alongside liposuction.
Calf and ankle liposuction slims heavy lower legs and “cankles” under local anesthesia, with no compression garments and a return to work within about two days.
Ab etching surgery in NYC with Dr. Leonard Grossman starts with a design session: he studies your anatomy, draws the muscle definition you want directly on your abdomen and proceeds only when you agree. The plan is never a fixed recipe: how thick your fat layer is, where your own tendinous lines fall, and whether the obliques or flanks are included all change what he does. He then sculpts the fat over the rectus and oblique muscles with a fine cannula through tiny, discreetly placed incisions, so scarring stays minimal. Women usually choose a softer look, though definition can be as sharp as a man’s, and results are permanent while your weight stays stable.

His gallery shows active men from their late 20s to their 50s, including a bodybuilder and a firefighter, six months to two years after etching.

The muscle pattern is drawn on your body before surgery and finalized only when you agree with it.
Surgery takes place in his AAAHC-accredited Brooklyn surgery center: private, outpatient and home the same day.
Recovery needs no compression garments, narcotics or pillows, and most people resume daily activities in one or two days.

Abdominal etching, which Dr. Grossman calls Lipoetching, is a precise form of liposuction that he developed and named in 1995, according to his practice. Using a very thin, specialized cannula, he removes the fat lying over and between the abdominal muscles so the natural lines of a six-pack show through. In his words, “it’s just like etching on wood, only I’m etching on the abdomen.”
