The Kardashians are not strangers to plastic surgery. Both matriarch Kris and patriarch Bruce have admitted to going under the knife on more than one occasion, and sometimes, even allowing procedures to be taped for their audience. Kim has admitted to minor cosmetic enhancement like Botox, skin peels and laser stretch mark removal, but has never actually come clean about any major surgical work, though rumors have abounded for years that Kim got a butt enhancement as well as Rhinoplasty.
But now, the youngest member of the Kardashian “Klan” is being accused of getting plastic surgery as well. Is there truth to these rumors? We’ll let you be the judge.
According to the latest tabloid fodder, Kylie allegedly got work done on her nose and lips. Kylie denies the rumors, but this wouldn’t be the first – nor the last – time a celebrity has denied getting plastic surgery when in fact they did.
Kylie claims that since she is just 16, the rumors have to be false. However, in America, Rhinoplasty can be performed at any age, but the standard is age 15 for girls and 16 for boys. As long as the nose has stopped growing, there shouldn’t be an issue, but in actuality, as long as a parent consents to the surgery, the procedure can be performed earlier than age 15. It is perfectly reasonable to believe that Kylie did in fact undergo Rhinoplasty.
Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures in the U.S., and especially here in New York. Our leading plastic surgeon, Dr. Leonard Grossman, has performed countless nose jobs at our NYC center and our patients range in age. Many seek Rhinoplasty following a serious accident that has left the nose disfigured, while others desire the procedure as a way to correct a deviated septum they were either born with or that resulted following an accident.
Rhinoplasty can be both a cosmetic and a reconstructive plastic surgery procedure, so in all honesty, it wouldn’t be that big of a deal if Kylie really did have work done on her nose.
As for the lip enhancement, that’s a bit tricky. The FDA approved Restylane for use in patients 21 years of age or older. However, just as with Rhinoplasty, parents can give their consent and kids can get whatever treatment they want.
It usually boils down to the plastic surgeon’s own discretion. We’ve seen far too many “doctors” in Hollywood treat patients who did not need cosmetic surgery for the sake of money or fame or both. A highly experienced plastic surgeon should never allow a patient to undergo a treatment that they would never benefit from. Sixteen is too early to have lip enhancement procedures performed, but each case is unique, and thus, needs to be evaluated on a singular basis.
But even if Kylie Jenner really didn’t have any work done, the fact that she is part of the Kardashian empire means that rumors will inevitably come her way. These may be some of the first, but will definitely not be the last.
