Renuvion Skin and
Tissue Tightening

As technology improves, patients who want to look younger, healthier, and regain their youthful glow and tighter tissues have more options than ever. One of the newest, safest, and minimally-invasive plastic surgery options is the revolutionary use of the Renuvion device created by Bovie Medical. In 2015, while still in the experimental stages, the representatives of Bovie Medical approached New York Plastic Surgeon Dr. Leonard Grossman to help them with the research and development of the device designed for skin resurfacing and soft tissue tightening. Being familiar with the Bovie technology, Dr. Grossman started using J-Plasma in early 2016. After having performed thousands of tissue-tightening procedures in combination with a few other doctors, the FDA cleared the J-Plasma device in May of 2022.

With the help of Dr. Grossman, the device has gone through many changes and improvements, most of which were the safety profile.

Since then, the device was purchased by Apex Medical which has renamed the device “Renuvion”.
Now, Dr. Leonard Grossman is one of the most experienced Renuvion surgeons in the world and the first in NYC.
The NYC Renuvion tissue tightening system consists of an energy producing generator and a tiny 2.5 mm probe, the tip of which allows for the delivery of a great deal of energy to either the skin (in skin resurfacing) or subcutaneous tissues during tissue tightening. Constant flow of helium gas is administered to provide a cooling effect. As the tissues under the skin shrink and tighten, the result is a shrink wrap-like effect pulling the skin closer to the underlying muscle with a significant reduction of the “jiggly” component of the skin.
Renuvion can also be used as a skin tightening and resurfacing device, but most commonly it is being used to tighten the looseness of the tissues of the neck, chest, arms, abdomen, back, and thighs.

The best candidates are individuals who display some degree of skin looseness related to the aging process of volume loss or people who have lost weight.

The procedure of tissue tightening can be performed with or without liposuction and in combination with other plastic surgery procedures.

Renuvion is typically performed under local anesthesia or in combination with a light sedation.

Dr. Grossman will make a small hole in the skin using a needle during the procedure. Local anesthetic is then injected into the area of treatment, after which the Renuvion handpiece is placed under the skin in order to tighten the tissues.

After the procedure of Renuvion, the patients may feel the crackling noise of helium gas under the skin. The gas is neutral and harmless, and will disappear after a few days. When performed by Dr. Grossman, the patients usually have minimal discomfort. NO compression garments need to be worn and NO drains are ever used. The majority of patients can return to work in one to two days while resuming near-normal activities just 3 days later.
The minimum that the patients can anticipate is 30 to 50% improvements, but some individuals experience an almost magical degree of improvement.

Dr. Leonard Grossman, one of world’s most respected and renowned plastic surgeons, is ready to talk with you and answer all of your questions.
