The Kardashian “Klan” has been known to stir up a lot of controversy, but most recently, a disturbing accusation has been made about middle child and soon-to-be-mom Kim. The Armenian reality TV star, whose life has been under public scrutiny since she was a teen, continues to be the subject of slander, with tabloids claiming she underwent plastic surgery while pregnant. But are the accusations against Kim K true this time around?
Kim just had her baby girl with rapper Kanye West, but according to sources, she is also due for another round of cosmetic treatments. Some people are claiming Kim, who has openly discussed her love of Botox and fillers and even had injections on her show, “Keeping up with the Kardashians,” has gotten some work done during her pregnancy. But her mother and manager Kris Jenner denies these rumors and asserts her daughter hasn’t had any plastic surgery since finding out she was going to have a baby.
Yet, it’s hard not to at least wonder if Kim has been back to get some Botox or any other cosmetic enhancement treatment in the past eight months. After all, she IS known for her looks and maintaining flawless skin and supple lips has always seemed like one of her top priorities.
Botox injections last anywhere from two to six months, then patients can choose whether they want to repeat the treatments or never try the injections again. Kim has been showing off pictures of her pouty lips and plump cheeks the entire time she has been pregnant. If she wanted to maintain the effects, she would have most likely kept coming back for treatments at some point during the pregnancy.
But in Kim’s defense, perhaps she just caught herself at a good angle for her pictures or maybe the Botox injections she has been getting are so subtle it’s hard to tell whether or not she’s had any treatments. There is also the possibility that before getting pregnant, Kim opted for longer-lasting facial fillers such as Restylane Sub Q injections, which can last up to six years according to NYC Plastic Surgeon Dr. Leonard Grossman.
Botox is one of the most popular treatments in New York. Dr. Leonard Grossman has been offering Botox treatments for anti-aging and anti-wrinkling purposes for nearly 20 years. A lot of patients have also been coming to Dr. Grossman for treatment of excessive sweating as well. There are very few side effects for patients getting Botox, which may include mild swelling or irritation, but these effects tend to dissipate within a half an hour or so. However, the effects of Botox and other fillers have not been fully studied on pregnant women and therefore, any cosmetic treatment during pregnancy can carry a risk for both mother and baby.
Cosmetic procedures like Botox and fillers can make us feel younger and more vibrant, but because there are no guarantees that the treatments will not negatively affect the pregnancy, it’s best to avoid any procedure that is not 100 percent necessary until after the baby is born. Nursing mothers should also avoid any form of cosmetic treatment because many times, substances can pass into the breast milk and affect the newborn child.
