Breast Lift
Breast Lift Photo GalleryAs a woman, you know when the time has come to get a breast lift. The breasts just don’t look and feel the way they used to. When you were younger, the breasts looked like two halves of a grapefruit on the chest or melons if you were well endowed and best of all they were perky. But as you get older, have children or have gone through weight fluctuations, your breasts just aren’t the same any more. The breasts may be pointing down, got flatter, have stretch marks and sometimes they just don’t hang sexy.
So if you know you need a lift, then find out about the options you have.
Mastopexy or a Breast Lift is a procedure that involves removing extra skin and restoring the breast into a perkier, more youthful shape.
What are your options you may ask?
There are three of them.
Up to date the great majority of Plastic Surgeons perform the Weiss or the Anchor Breast Lift, but that procedure is notorious for bad scarring and loss of sensitivity to the nipple. The scars run around the areola, down to the fold of the breast and extend from the breastbone nearly to the underarm.
Then there is the Vertical or the Lollipop Breast Lift and that procedure has many advantages over the Anchor Lift in that it has fewer scars, where the scar lines run from the circle of the areola to the fold of the breast, plus it provides less problems with sensation to the breast.
Lastly there is the Periareolar Lift. This Mastopexy procedure has many names yet very few doctors are well versed in this particular procedure, as there is limited training available in the procedure. Periareolar Lift is also known as the Benelli Lift or the Doughnut Mastopexy is the procedure of choice for Dr Grossman as it provides his patients with minimal scarring and no loss of sensation. The scar runs around the aril only and is usually as thin as one of the lines on the palm of your hand.
When you first come for a consultation with Dr Grossman, you will find out if you are a candidate for the Periareolar Breast Lift. Dr Grossman will discuss with you what your best options are, expectations and possible complications of the procedure. Make sure you bring a list of questions for Dr Grossman, since everyone gets a little nervous and forgets to ask a question or two. Your medical history is very important, as is your smoking history (heavy smokers don’t heal nearly as well as non-smokers).
The Procedure :
Most of the time the Periareolar Lift is done under Twilight or Intravenous Anesthesia, this way there you wake up easily without any postoperative nausea and feeling rather refreshed within half an hour after the surgery.
The surgery itself takes anywhere between one to two hours of operative time.
If you are like the majority of our patients, you should experience no postoperative pain. You may return to work the next day, take regular showers and resume normal gym workouts at the same time.
In our practice we encourage patients to speak to other patients like yourself and we let you view a segment form the Cosmetic Surgery Live show that was dedicated to Dr Grossman. In this show many of your questions may be answered, you will see the procedure itself, see how the patient feels during and after the procedure, as well as the results of the procedure.
